GETTING THERE Ba Be National Park is 18k from Cho Ra town, which is accessible by car from Hanoi. The scenery on the way is pleasant, mostly lowland, rice paddies and cornfields with minority villages, but not the dramatic mountain scenery you find in other parts of Vietnam.
SIGHTSEEING
There are several treks, boat trips and combinations to make:
Dau Dang Waterfall & Ta Ken village. Excursion by boat with trekking. This is our standard program for Ba Be. Travel by boat for about 45 min through the lake, stopping at a Tay village. From there, tourists can trek for 10 minutes to Dau Dang Waterfall (0.5km), and then, if desired, to Ta Ken village (Tay), about 20 minutes away (2km further). Could be good spot for picnic lunch, before returning the way you came to the boat, and back to the pier. On the way back, the boat stops at a bat cave for a brief visit (smelly!).
