The most typical and convenient destination for a day trip to the Mekong Delta is My Tho. The town of My Tho lies on the left side of the Mekong River and just a two-hour drive from the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City. Visitors will enjoy a cruise on the Mekong River and then ride on a hand-rowed sampan through small islets under a green canopy of water-coconut trees to catch a glimpse of the daily activities of the local people. A visit to an orchard islet to observe the pastoral life and enjoy coconut milk, seasonal fruit, honey tea and lunch of country delicacies will also be arranged.

Cu Chi used to be a bitter battleground for many years during the Vietnam War. Visitors cannot miss a visit to this “underground village”, an intricate network of over 200km-long tunnels at Ben Duoc, 75km from Ho Chi Minh City. Try a very short segment of this labyrinth of interlaced tunnels and you will find it incredible. Then you can make a stop at the Ben Duoc War Memorial (over 40,000 people have fallen) before testing your marksmanship with an AK rifle at local rifle range (optional). |
