The most typical and convenient destination for a day trip to the Mekong Delta is My Tho. The town of My Tho lies on the left side of the Mekong River and just a two-hour drive from the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City. Visitors will enjoy a cruise on the Mekong River and then ride on a hand-rowed sampan through small islets under a green canopy of water-coconut trees to catch a glimpse of the daily activities of the local people. A visit to an orchard islet to observe the pastoral life and enjoy coconut milk, seasonal fruit, honey tea and lunch of country delicacies will also be arranged.

Visitors cannot miss a visit to this “underground village”, an intricate network of over 200km-long tunnels at Ben Duoc, 75km from Ho Chi Minh City. Try a very short segment of this labyrinth of interlaced tunnels and you will find it incredible. Then you can make a stop at the Ben Duoc War Memorial (over 40,000 people have fallen) before testing your marksmanship with an AK rifle at local rifle range (optional). |
