Day 1/ Hanoi – Ha Giang

Morning start our adventure by driving to Ha Giang. The 7-8 hour drive takes us through some of the most breathtaking scenery in Vietnam. Take a short walk around a Tay village. Overnight in Ha Giang. Travel distance: approximately 300 kms; Driving hours: 7-8 hours Truong Xuan Resort in Ha Giang or similar

Day 2/ Ha Giang – Dong Van – Lung Cu (B)

Continue our journey to Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark. We travel through Quan Ba, Yen Minh and Dong Van district and admire magnificent views of the vast lime stone mountain range and their perpendicular rock faces. Visit the infamous Vuong Palace, a H’mong high-rank family during French colonial rule. Climb up to Lung Cu Flag Tower for panoramic views of the valley which is located on Dragon Mountain 1,470-metre high from sea level, Vietnam’s most northernmost point. Return to Dong Van and check-in guesthouse. Travel distance: approximately 250 kms; Driving hours: 6-7 hours Hoang Ngoc hotel in Dong Van or similar

Day 3/ Dong Van – Meo Vac – Cao Bang (B,L)

Drive to Cao Bang province. We stop for photophraphs at Ma Pi Leng Pass which is considered as one of the “Four Greatest Passes of Vietnam”. Go down to the view-point for the look-out over Nho Que River. Lunch in Meo Vac Town. Check in and overnight in Cao Bang. Day 4/ Ban Gioc Waterfall and Nguom Ngao Cave – Ba Be (B,L)

Take 3-hour drive to Trung Khanh District, a shared bordered area with China. Visita village of the ethnic Nung people. Arrive at Ban Gioc Waterfall and take a raft to get closer to this natural wonder to enjoy the cooler temperature and magnificent views. (dependant on the water conditions). After lunch, continue to visit Nguom Ngao limestone Cave which is about 2 km from Ban Gioc Falls. The thousands of colorful stalactites and stalagmites will amaze you. Drive to Ba Be. Thai Binh Hotel in Ba Be or similar

Day 5/ Ba Be Lake – Hanoi (B)

Morning, visit the legendary Ba Be Lake. The lake itself is formed by three small lakes joined together – Pe Lam, Pe Lu and Pe Leng. We embark on a boat cruising down the Nang River which is the main water source of the lake. Drive back to Hanoi late evening. Travel distance: approximately 250 kms; Driving hours: 5-6 hours The best time to travel: from October to April that is in dry season with a cooler climate (Don’t recommend you go on this trip from May to September. As it is rainy season, the weather in this time of year is normally hot and humid with constant rainfalls; sometimes unsafe on the mountain roads of winding and narrow passes, etc...).
