Angkor Wat and Sampan Mekong Cruise
The Mekong Delta is the bottom half of Vietnam’s two rice baskets. This vast delta is formed by silt deposits from the multiple tentacles and tributaries of the mighty Mekong River. From its source in the Tibetan highland plateau 2,800 miles away, the river makes its way through China, Myanmar (Burma), Laos, Cambodia and South Vietnam. The Mekong’s Vietnamese name, Cuu Long, means Nine Dragons for the nine mouths where the flow of this great river is absorbed into the sea.
Cruising the Mekong Delta with a lazy waterway tour is very unique way to get closeup view of local people in the delta. Experience a better understanding of local life and culture of those that live along the canals and waterways.
